20 Sept, 08 Champlin's Artworks go to India

D. Loren's Champlin's artworks will now be represented in New Delhi, India

The works of D. Loren Champlin, the Piscataquis County based Maine expressionistic artist, will now available in the Far East and represented by The Fuschia Tree (F-7 East of Kailash, New Delhi, India). Champlin has been a professional artist since 1992 and lives in the highlands of Maine. His works have been shown in New York, NY, Washington, Ontario, Tennessee, and now India.

His style is quite unique bringing the subject to life with strong brushstrokes and amorphous backgrounds to create a symbiosis and explosion of vibrant color and fuses the subject with the artist in the passion of the moment.

13 Sept, 08 News at 7, 8 Central - and yes, Professor, I am still alive

Amsterdam Whitney Gallery show Aug 1-26, 2008: The show at the Amsterdam Whitney was a success. The works were featured so that they were the first two works that were seen as you walked through the door. Imagine my surprise. You may see photos from the opening reception and a letter about the show from Ruthie Tucker the gallery curator by clicking here.

New Profiles added across the web Busy as a bee this month putting up profiles across the web. A brief synompsis of ones you can check out. 1) Brushspace.com This is an interesting invitation-only British site. Where it is juried, it has a pretty nice lineup of artwork. A fairly new site, but has proven to be a worthwhile one. 2) My Artspace.com Nice layout of the website, although I don't particularly like the Ads by Google part to the right of the page. It seems as tho these google ads are everywhere nowadays, I really miss the good ol days when google was just a really good search engine and not a big corporation. The ads are discretely placed compared to a lot of sights so not too imposing. Also I kind of wonder about the demographics of the people visiting that site - time will tell. Free tho so /shrug. 3) fine-art.com Nice site, a bit crowded tho and again with the google ads. They seem to be limited to the basic search pages, tho and the link above, I didn't notice any ads to speak of. You may also purchase works from this site using Google Checkout or Paypal which is kind of unique. 4) Artslant New York A very beautiful and well done sight featuring modern and contemporary works. The nice thing is that on the profile page a slide show appears, contact info, and a nice CV. 5) The Amsterdam Whitney Gallery placed The Coming of Winter on ArtNet a prestigious marketplace to auction and buy works.

Lighthouse of Maine Announcement: will appear in a Juried book the 'International Contemporary Masters 2009' editor/curator Despina Tunberg - to be published fall 2008 - more information to come at a later date. This book will be distributed to galleries, collectors, and museums and can be purchased at many major retailers when it comes out such as Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, etc.

Kennebec Valley Art Association I have decided to join the Kennebec Valley Art Association (KVAA) as I have found many friends there and forsee potential showing opportunities in the Augusta, Maine area. There are two group member shows there a year where I can place a couple small works as well as bins for prints which I intend on utilizing. The KVAA is a small arts organization based in Augusta, Maine and runs the Harlow Gallery in the Old Town district. Its members are comprised of artists in all stages of artistic development as well as patrons.

Winter is Coming, Eeeks! The nights are getting colder, the wind is picking up, and the snow should start to fly in a couple of weeks. . . Well, where we still need a new roof and heating will be astronomical this year, now would be a great time to place an offer on a painting you've been itching to buy. Granted if it is a rediculously low offer I wouldn't accept it, but you never know. Place your bids now lol.
